Many of us have been struggling with the problem of yellow teeth since childhood. We are still deepening our complexes, we rarely pay attention to the fact that movie stars with snow-white smiles have undergone a number of dental procedures. We use various types of whitening toothpastes, which bring mediocre results.

We can get rid of our complexes easily and quickly by choosing one of the teeth whitening methods in a professional dental office. These methods include whitening with the Beyond lamp and the overlay method. Depending on the time we intend to devote to the whitening treatment and its method, we can adjust any of the methods to our needs and preferences.

TEETH WHITENING WITH THE BEYOND LAMP – it is an easy and quick procedure performed in a dental office during one visit. It consists of two to three 15-20 minute sessions, during which a whitening gel is applied and then the teeth are exposed to a lamp. The gel used for this method is hydrogen or carbamide peroxide with a concentration of 30 to 37 %. This method requires protecting the gums, lips and mucous membrane with a substance called a rubber dam to prevent irritation and/or burns of the oral cavity.

The advantages of this method include:

The disadvantage of this method is the high concentration of gel causing tooth hypersensitivity.

The second whitening method is OVERLAY METHOD. Whitening begins with a visit to the dentist's office, where impressions are taken from the lower and upper jaw in order to prepare overlays in the prosthetic laboratory, to which the whitening gel will be administered. The concentration of the gel is individually adjusted by the dentist depending on the color of the patient's teeth and their sensitivity. Gels used at home have a lower concentration than gels used in dental offices for one-time whitening.

A commonly used gel in this method is the company's gel Opalescence. It is a mild gel that does not cause hypersensitivity. One tooth whitening using the overlay method uses 2 to 3 syringes of the gel, which is obtained in the office together with the overlays. This whitening can last up to 2 weeks. The effects are visible gradually. If, after whitening, we find that the effect is not satisfactory, we can always buy another syringe of the gel and continue the treatment. Gel overlays are worn at night. They can also be worn for several hours a day.

The advantage of this method is:

The disadvantage, however, is the duration of the procedure and the need to wear overlays, which may cause discomfort.

Regardless of which whitening method you choose, in both cases you should follow a white diet after the treatment. After whitening, teeth are more susceptible to absorbing coloring food ingredients. In particular, you should avoid coffee, tea, red wine, and soy sauce.

The final color after teeth whitening persists for up to several days after the procedure.
